Annual 5K Pride Run/Walk. The course begins in Magic Island and goes around Ala Moana Beach Park. The event is an opportunity for the LGBTQ+ community and supporters to come together in pride and celebrate in an active and healthy way. There will be an awards ceremony after the race with overall awards and age group awards for women, men, and nonbinary participants. This is an opportunity for everyone to gather together to snack and be social. Participants will receive a PRIDE RUN/WALK 5K t-shirt (while supplies last!).

Farmers and Artisan market

Don’t miss the Friends of the Zoo Fall Plant Sale, Saturday, October 10, from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the entrance to the Equestrian Center in Hilo.
Shop a huge selection from local growers, including native plants, orchids, fruit trees, bamboo, bromeliads, heliconias, carnivorous plants, and plenty more.

Best of all, 20% of every sale is donated to support the Pana‘ewa Rainforest Zoo & Gardens and help care for the animals.

Our market features a diverse mix of food vendors, artisans & crafters, farmed goods & interactive booths. We are a family-friendly establishment with free keiki activities & live music.

We service 110+ vendors each year with 60+ on site each week. This means each time you visit, there's something unique to explore. Regardless of when you come, there's always something for everyone!

Street parking is free on Sundays & we are surrounded by several public parking lots. 

Spend the morning with Hitoshi Hida, AIA, a retired architect and accomplished artist, for a hands-on sketching workshop that explores the art of observing and capturing the world around us. Mr. Hida discovered his passion for drawing and painting as a child and has spent a lifetime refining his artistic eye and technique.

Whether you are a beginner or an experienced artist, this engaging workshop offers an opportunity to develop your drawing abilities while experiencing the joy of pastel painting with one of Hawaiʻi's respected architectural and artistic talents.

This year’s panel brings together Hinaleimoana Wong-Kalu, Meli James, and Dr. Maenette Benham — three Hawaiʻi leaders with distinct experiences in culture, entrepreneurship, education, and community leadership.

Join us on Saturday, October 10, from 9:00–11:30 a.m. at Limelight Hawaiʻi at Ala Moana Hotel for a panel discussion, audience Q&A, skill spotlight, guided reflection, and networking.

Light refreshments will be provided.

The National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI), is the nation’s largest grassroots mental health organization dedicated to building better lives for the millions of Americans affected by mental illness. NAMIWalks is the largest, most vibrant mental health community event by over 190 NAMI State Organizations and local Affiliates from coast to coast.

Everyone is encouraged to bring a friend, family, neighbor, co-worker, form a team, and celebrate the day walking with others to show your support for the importance of mental health in our community. It’s free to sign-up but registration is required and fundraising encouraged before event day. Participants who raise or donate at least $100 receive an event T-shirt. All funds support NAMI Big Island’s free mental health programs, resources and services.

POTTERY EXHIBITION + SALE: Meet the potters at this special public opening event hosted in the Gift Shop! Browse a selection of Japanese tableware ceramics handcrafted by seven local artists and colleagues from Hawaiʻi Potters' Guild. Pieces include plates and platters, dishes, cups, bowls, vases, and decorative items beginning at $10. A portion of the proceeds will support the JCCH.

The JCCH Gift Shop and Historical Gallery will be open until 3:00 PM.
