Live Performance Series
In Feb. 2023, HPR launched a new live performance series dedicated to Mele Hawaiʻi. ʻUheʻuhene kicked off our Mele Hawaiʻi Performance Series, which also featured Ei Nei, Pōmaikaʻi, and Galliard String Quartet with Raiatea Helm.
Since then, we've enjoyed more live music in the Atherton with the Hawaiʻi Classical Performance Series (Jan. 2024) and the second-year of live concerts celebrating Mahina ʻŌlelo Hawaiʻi (Hawaiian Language Month) (Feb. 2024). Hot Club of Hulaville Ft. Kelsea Armstrong - Lullaby of Birdland
Samuela Taukave Skillz FJ and John Taukave Jay-j
Brothers Samuela Taukave (Skillz FJ) and John Taukave (Jay-j) recorded their songs live in the Atherton Performing Arts Studio. With support from the East-West Center Arts Program, the duo has been able to host and participate in local school and community events in spaces where performers of varying backgrounds, styles and abilities come together.
This performance was recorded and produced as a way to welcome the 13th Festival of Pacific Arts and Culture (FestPAC). This is the first time Hawai‘i is hosting the largest gathering of Indigenous Pacific communities, June 6-16, 2024.
