This exhibition takes the viewer on a journey through the diverse regions of the Philippines featuring centerpieces of Filipino attire, from the southern Muslim and Indigenous communities in Mindanao, to the Indigenous communities in the northern Luzon region, to the predominantly Roman Catholic central Visayan Islands, to the national dress associated with Manila.
Honoring the deep connection between Hawai'i and the Philippines, a display of historical photographs shares the story of the Sakada, the first 15 Filipinos who immigrated to Hilo, Hawai'i, as labor workers in 1906.

The Record Company was born out of a late-night hang in 2011, when Chris Vos (vocals, guitar), Alex Stiff (bass, backing vocals), and Marc Cazorla (drums, backing vocals) spun classic blues records like John Lee Hooker’s Hooker ’N Heat and swapped stories of their favorite concerts (Iggy Pop & The Stooges, among them). Energized by the evening, the three musicians reconvened the next day for a jam session at Stiff’s Los Feliz home. Before long, his living room would become the band’s epicenter as they wrote songs, performed for friends, and, eventually, recorded and mixed their debut album, "Give It Back to You."
Blending the soul of Delta blues with the power of classic rock and roll, the trio recorded much of the album live, giving songs like“Off the Ground,” “Rita Mae Young,” and “On the Move” a raw, immediate feel. They also incorporated slideguitar, pedal steel, piano, and harmonica, showcasing both their range and reverence for tradition while infusing it with modern energy.

For Thomas "Tj” Fevella Jr., music has always been in his blood. Born and raised in Hawaii music was constantly prevalent in his life, whether it be an impromptu jam session with family, or even as simple as a fun karaoke night. His passion grew when he was just 19 years old. He was approached by his kumu hula (hula teacher) Cliff "Pali" Ahue with a life changing opportunity. Although he knew how to play the ukulele, he knew very little Hawaiian music, but was still hired by Ahue as a musician for Tihati Production at the Hyatt Regency Maui luau.
From there, Fevella only became more motivated. He soon began considering a solo career that would feature his own music. Josh Tatofi, a good friend and local solo artist, took Fevella under his wing, brought him into the music industry and helped nurture his craft.
Another major influence was Glenn Awong, lead singer of the Maui-based recording group Maoli. Awong allowed Fevella to live out his dream by inviting him to hit the road and go on tour, all while providing guidance and exposure of what the music industry had to offer.
