The West Hawaii Filipino Association is proud to announce the founding of DANGAL in 2026—a dedicated cultural preservation project designed to safeguard and celebrate our rich heritage. DANGAL is more than a dance troupe; it is a movement to bridge the ancestral traditions of the Philippines with the unique history of our community in Hawaii.

We dance to honor the legacy of the Sakadas—the plantation workers whose resilience and spirit paved the way for our lives today. Through every step and rhythm, we ensure their stories are never forgotten.

Where: Old Airport Park, Kailua-Kona (Walking path grass lawn)

Our Mission: Connect, Educate, Inspire
Our goal is to archive and revitalize Filipino folk traditions through movement. DANGAL is preparing to showcase our cultural legacy on Hawaii’s most prestigious stages, including:

Join the Movement
Following our meet and greet, regular rehearsals will continue every Thursday. We are seeking dedicated individuals to join our pamilya and become stewards of our culture.

When: Every Thursday | 4:00 PM – 5:30 PM

Where: Old Airport Park, Kailua-Kona

Preparation: Bring walking/athletic shoes and plenty of water.

Investment: Monthly membership is FREE.

Note: Separate fees apply for the procurement of authentic performance costumes and traditional props.
