Maui resident artists showing paintings, wood carving, jewelry, ceramics, photography, feather art, and more they've created, fridays & saturdays under tents in the grassy area of the parking lot. A non-profit started in the 1960s LAS provides free art and music classes to Maui youth. Come and talk story with the artists.

Please join us at Ka'ehu for our 4th Sunday of every month cleanup of this beautiful bay! We work together to pick up marine debris that's continuously washing ashore, from all around the Pacific Ocean and locally. Then we weigh, sort and count it all. This information gets added to our ongoing database since 2012, when we first began these regular cleanups at Ka'ehu.

It's a very rewarding and educational experience (with good karma and outdoor exercise). All are welcome to join this adventurous trashy treasure hunt! Please rsvp so we can provide our most updated safety and access information:

Come on over and join the fun—play Hanafuda with your fellow community members! We’re excited to let you know that after a summer break, we’re back with this program. We have several Hanafuda decks available during the event, on a first-come, first-served basis, for anyone eager to play. It’s a great chance to meet new friends, challenge yourself, and just have a good time! If you’ve learned how to play Hanafuda from Helen Nakano and her Sensei, now’s your moment to practice those skills in a friendly game.

This will be a relaxed, self-directed play session—no formal instructions will be provided. However, we’ll have instruction sheets available for those interested in learning more about this wonderful game. Everyone, no matter your experience level, is welcome to join! Just a quick note: young children should be accompanied by an adult. For more info, feel free to contact us at (808) 733-8422 or ask at the Kaimukī Public Library Adult Reference Desk. Anyone who requires an auxiliary aid or service for effective communication, or a modification of policies or procedures to participate in a program, service, or activity should contact library staff as soon as possible. The Greener Reader Book Club reads and discusses fiction, non-fiction, and science fiction books as well as memoirs and biographies, with the intention of exploring various perspectives and counter-narratives on (past, present and potential) social, cultural, and economic norms and systems, and on the “unspoken complexities of the human heart”. We meet (almost always) on the last Tuesday of every month to read together in silent solidarity, share what else we're reading, and discuss the book of the month. 1-3 times a month we (try to) gather in public green space to read as well. Join us - be the reader you want to see in the world!
