Wild Moon School of Spells is the first in a holiday series of pop up events created just for keiki. It’s where the magic of the holidays and the wonder of childhood meet, giving kids space to imagine, pretend, create, and make a few new friends along the way.
School of Spells takes place October 4, when keiki are invited to step into a world of spellbinding witches, enchanting wizards, potions, wands, magical companions, and imaginative play.
Throughout the event, kids will move through a series of magical stations where they can enchant their own spell wand, mix a potion, design a witch or wizard hat, create a charm bracelet, and bring their very own magical companion to life.
It’s a place where imagination comes to life, creativity is encouraged, and play takes center stage.
School of Spells is for ages 5 to 10 and is $65 per child. Three session options are available. Open to the community.
Join us in partnership with JCI Honolulu for a free, hands on cultural workshop that introduces participants to the history and traditions of Bon Dance in Hawai'i and Japan. Through stories, demonstrations, and easy guided dances, participants may learn what the movements mean and gain confidence to join bon dances at local festivals.
The program is open to all ages and no dance experience is needed, making it a a fun and welcoming way to connect with Japanese traditions and our Hawai'i community.
Pre-registration is recommended. You can do so by calling: (808)733-8423, or by signing up at the library Reference Desk.
Anyone who requires an auxiliary aid or service for effective communication, or a modification of policies or procedures to participate in a program, service, or activity should contact library staff as soon as possible. Advance requests 48 hours or more before the event are encouraged, but not required. All programs are subject to change. See a schedule of upcoming events at librarieshawaii.org/events.

Aloha! The Fog City Singers cordially invite you to join us as we share our Fall Concerts, entitled “When the Fog Rolls In To Honolulu.” In these concerts we will use our barbershop, choral, and contemporary a cappella singing to embark on a grand musical journey that will take you across the Pacific Ocean and return you safely home.
Concert repertoire includes our newest commissioned contest piece, Jeremiah Pope’s barbershop mashup of Elton John’s “Don’t Let the Sun Go Down on Me” and Bill Withers’ “Ain’t No Sunshine.” Another commission, a medley of Damita Jo’s “When the Fog Rolls In To San Francisco” and Queen Lili‘uokalani’s “Sanoe,” establishes a direct contrapuntal musical connection between San Francisco, our home town, and Honolulu, our October tour destination.
Performances by our chapter quartets, including Common Thread, The Idealists, S’melodies, and Yeah No Yeah, will round out the concerts.
Note: One of our chorus’ central tenets is that we never want one’s financial situation to be an impediment to their ability to associate with us. That goes for both our members and our audiences. This concert is set up with "Pay what you can" tickets to be as inclusive as possible. If you are in need of an alternative ticket option, please reach out to us at contact@fogcitysingers.com, and we will figure out how to accommodate.
"No Sousa in sight.
In celebration of America’s 250th anniversary, American Independence looks beyond the usual patriotic soundtrack to offer a broader, more colorful portrait of American classical music. Spring Wind Quintet is joined by pianist Jonathan Korth for a program full of motion, shimmer, impulse, and song, from Barber’s beloved Summer Music to selections from Gershwin’s Porgy and Bess.
This is American music with more than one voice, more than one style, and plenty of surprise."
