Meet the Artists Reception: Sunday, September 6, 1-3pm

Pastel Artists of Hawaii (PAH) invites everyone to view a FREE exhibit highlighting recent works by members of various skill levels.

PAH is a Hawaii-wide group of artists who produce works using at least 80% soft, sometimes known as dry, pastels. Used for hundreds of years by the likes of Mary Cassatt, Edgar Degas, Pablo Picasso, and Pierre-August Renoir, soft pastels are nothing more than pigment (or color) held in a stick form by a minimum amount of binder, allowing the artists many ways of applying and manipulating the color.

Scenes from Hawaii tend to feature prominently in PAH paintings, but you can also see portraits, still life, and even a few abstracts. Come see some views of the islands and more through the loving eyes of these local artists.

ARS Hawaii invites all recorder players to attend our weekly practices at Arcadia, 1434 Punahou St, Honolulu, HI. The ensemble of 6-8 performers plays a wide range of music from the Medieval, Renaissance, and Baroque to Contemporary, on instruments including Soprano, Alto, Tenor, Bass, Great Bass and occasionally sopranino. The group performs several times per year at a variety of occasions including church services, art museums, and special events. We encourage recorder players of all skill levels, from beginner to advanced, to come join us. ARS Hawaii is a chapter of the national 501(c)(3) American Recorder Society.

Our market features a diverse mix of food vendors, artisans & crafters, farmed goods & interactive booths. We are a family-friendly establishment with free keiki activities & live music.

We service 110+ vendors each year with 60+ on site each week. This means each time you visit, there's something unique to explore. Regardless of when you come, there's always something for everyone!

Street parking is free on Sundays & we are surrounded by several public parking lots.

Come on over and join the fun—play Hanafuda with your fellow community members! We’re excited to let you know that after a summer break, we’re back with this program. We have several Hanafuda decks available during the event, on a first-come, first-served basis, for anyone eager to play. It’s a great chance to meet new friends, challenge yourself, and just have a good time! If you’ve learned how to play Hanafuda from Helen Nakano and her Sensei, now’s your moment to practice those skills in a friendly game.

This will be a relaxed, self-directed play session—no formal instructions will be provided. However, we’ll have instruction sheets available for those interested in learning more about this wonderful game. Everyone, no matter your experience level, is welcome to join! With these words, we are drawn into the world of Both Sides Now - a theatrical concert that explores the music and lives of long-time friends and one-time lovers, Joni Mitchell and Leonard Cohen. Created by, and starring Robbie Schaefer and Danielle Wertz, the cabaret-style performance traverses decades alongside songs such as A Case of You, Hallelujah, Big Yellow Taxi, Suzanne, and many more. Both Sides Now is at once a piece of the 60’s and 70’s, and of right now -- offering us a story about the messiness of being human, of lives persistently lived at the edge of growth, and of finding the courage to turn toward one another, again and again.
