Come on over and join the fun—play Hanafuda with your fellow community members! We’re excited to let you know that after a summer break, we’re back with this program. We have several Hanafuda decks available during the event, on a first-come, first-served basis, for anyone eager to play. It’s a great chance to meet new friends, challenge yourself, and just have a good time! If you’ve learned how to play Hanafuda from Helen Nakano and her Sensei, now’s your moment to practice those skills in a friendly game.

This will be a relaxed, self-directed play session—no formal instructions will be provided. However, we’ll have instruction sheets available for those interested in learning more about this wonderful game. Everyone, no matter your experience level, is welcome to join! Anyone who requires an auxiliary aid or service for effective communication, or a modification of policies or procedures to participate in a program, service, or activity should contact library staff as soon as possible. Join us every Wednesday at 10:00am for a fun-filled story time! We’ll read a few simple stories, then make a craft or do an activity. Great fun for 2 – 5 year-olds and their parents or caregivers.

Does your citrus have spots? Are your tomatoes looking tired? Don't let your garden woes wilt your spirits. Bring your gardening questions and plant samples to the Kauaʻi Master Gardener "Plant Doctor" booth every Saturday at the farmers market.

This free community service, provided by the University of Hawaiʻi’s College of Tropical Agriculture and Human Resilience, connects you with highly trained Master Gardener volunteers who specialize in tropical horticulture, pest management, and soil health. Whether you are a backyard grower or a small-scale farmer, the "Plant Doctor" is in to help your garden thrive.
