After nearly two dozen guests joined our series since the start of the pandemic, HPR’s All Things Considered Host Dave Lawrence is offering up an Off the Road New Year’s Special: Story and Performance Highlights. Today it was announced that legendary band leader Spencer Davis had died yesterday in California at 81 after being treated for pneumonia. In the 1960’s the UK guitarist became known around the world for recordings of hits like “Gimmie Some Lovin’” and “I’m A Man”, which featured Steve Winwood on vocals and keyboards. In 2004 HPR All Things Considered Host Dave Lawrence had the chance to speak with him. Today we featured it on the show in his memory.

Today the music world suffered a tragic loss, as one of the greatest guitarists of all time, pioneer Eddie Van Halen, passed away at 65, after a battle with cancer.
