In the U.S., comic book sales totaled about 474 million dollars in 2012---in Japan, manga, or graphic novel sales totaled over 6 billion dollars the same year.  The market is huge, and graphic novels span topics to target every demographic.  HPR’s Noe Tanigawa reports on a show of Hawai’i Manga on view now at Windward Community College.

"Crossing Cultures: The Art of Manga in Hawai’i"continues at Gallery ‘Iolani in the Windward Community College through October 2nd.  See it this Saturday and enjoy the Windward Ho’olaule’a at WCC, from 10am to 9pm with arts and crafts, entertainment, activities, and food from 10am to 9pm. 

hachi maru hachi, a local manga compilation, is looking for submissions.

Audra Furuichi drew for a new game app, Sushi Star, available at the app store.

Check out Pen and Ink Works, a collective of local anime and manga artists, and Comic Jam, a get together for local artists interested in manga.

And don't forget about Oni Con coming to Hawai'i from Texas in November.
