Today rock legend Peter Frampton returns, as HPR All Things Considered Host Dave Lawrence starts two days with the legendary artist.

He was our guest early in 2021 to discuss his Do You Feel Like I Do? memoir.

Peter promised he’d return, and kept his word, joining us in this second 2021 interview following the release of Frampton Forgets the Words, his recent all covers album filled with instrumental versions of some of his favorite songs.

In part one airing today, Peter brings us up to speed on his plans as they relate to his Finale Tour, which was cut short by the pandemic, and inspired by his diagnosis of Inclusion-Body Myositis, or IBM, a disabling inflammatory muscle disease. He also offers some of his patented storytelling expertise, sharing the story of jamming with Sylvester Stewart, aka Sly Stone of Sly and the Family Stone, whose “If You Want Me to Stay” he’s covered on Frampton Forgets The Words. Peter also details covering Radiohead’s “Reckoner” and George Harrison’s “Isn’t It a Pity”, before offering more of his incredible storytelling based around Stevie Wonder’s “I Don’t Know Why” and his chance to support the musician at a Grammy Beatles Tribute in 2014. Part one concludes with discussing Peter’s cover of David Bowie “Loving the Alien”, and Peter’s hilarious story of the time he and his late, longtime friend exited an airplane together… via the emergency slide!

Tomorrow Peter will share more stories, returning to content found in the Do You Feel Like I Do memoir, for several fascinating stories relating to The Who, Humble Pie, and Led Zeppelin’s John Bonham!

We’ll also post the complete interview tomorrow.
