Today and tomorrow it’s American songwriting legend Jimmy Webb joining HPR All Things Considered Host Dave Lawrence. He’s the latest guest in the series with musicians remotely sharing how the pandemic and other crises have touched them.

Multiple Grammy Award winner, keyboardist/songwriter Jimmy Webb is responsible for classics like Wichita Lineman, By the Time I Get to Phoenix, Up, Up and Away, Galveston, and MacArthur Park, to name a few of his landmark compositions. Jimmy has also worked with some of biggest entertainers of all time, including Glen Campbell, Joni Mitchell and Elvis Presley, and thanks to his gift as a great storyteller, shares many profound encounters in his recent memoir The Cake and The Rain, some of which he retells in our feature.

Prior to the pandemic, Jimmy also recently released an album of instrumental covers, SlipCover Piano Arrangements, which we also discuss in the interview.

Tomorrow we’ll wrap up our special, and post the complete nearly 75 minute interview it’s based on.
