The Honolulu Board of Water Supply is telling employees to check their credit reports and watch for any unauthorized activity after a cyberattack on a contractor that handles the employee timekeeping system.

The utility was notified Sunday night of the breach at the human resources company Kronos, and cut off all access to the network.

Water customer accounts are not at risk.

Kronos also handles the timekeeping system for Honolulu’s Emergency Medical Services.

A spokesman for Honolulu Mayor Rick Blangiardi told the Honolulu Star-Advertiser that no employee, customer, or patient data was compromised.

This is the second recent attack on a high-profile government agency. Last week a cyberattack disabled the online services for Oʻahu Transit Services.

Systems for TheBus, Handi-Van and others were disrupted. Officials are still trying to get those services back online.
