Hawaiian Shochu Company

'Tis the season to raise your glass, whether it's wine or hard liquor. This is the season of spirits and we spotlight Shochu — a spirit most often made of sweet potato.

This Haleʻiwa small craft business opened its doors almost a decade ago and recently expanded its offerings to include gin. The Conversation talked to Ken Hirata of Hawaiian Shochu Company located on Oʻahu’s North Shore.

This interview aired on The Conversation on Jan. 4, 2022. The Conversation airs weekdays at 11 a.m. on HPR-1.
