How Are Local Charter Schools Addressing COVID-19 Cases?

HPR

A day after starting in-person classes last week, a Windward Oʻahu charter school reported three positive COVID-19 cases.

The Conversation reached out to the State Public Charter School Commission to learn about what it is hearing from the classrooms. Its COVID cases are reported to both the Department of Health and the Department of Education, but they are not compiled on any website.

HPR's Catherine Cruz talked to PJ Foehr, interim deputy director of the State Public Charter School Commission, about the protocols for charter schools.

This interview aired on The Conversation on Aug. 10, 2021.

Catherine Cruz is the host of The Conversation. Originally from Guam, she spent more than 30 years at KITV, covering beats from government to education. Contact her at ccruz@hawaiipublicradio.org.
