The entire community is invited to Ahava ‘Aina’s Torah dedication and Shabbat celebration at 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 14th, at 1009 Ahuna Road in Pana’ewa. The event will be followed by lunch and a Talk Story with 99-year-old Holocaust Survivor Goldie Lefkowitz. Everyone is welcome - all faiths, all beliefs, all ages - and there is no cost to attend, unless lunch is ordered. Ahava ‘Aina and Rabbi Rachel are thrilled to welcome their very own special Torah to the Big Island community! Rescued from a synagogue in Poland later believed to have been destroyed by Nazis, this sacred artifact is a major contribution to our Island’s cultural resources and will be dedicated by Hawai’i Island Mayor Mitch Roth. Hosted by The Office of Mayor Mitch Roth, stay and join Rabbi Rachel and Ahava ‘Aina for a Talk Story with Goldie, who will join us via Zoom from Kona to share her experience as a child and adolescent who survived the Holocaust. With so few Holocaust survivors left on the planet, this is a rare opportunity to hear a living legend from our own Big Island community share her story during this special event.
