Mixed-use high-rise development proposed for Kamehameha Schools land in Waipahu

Highridge Costa

For about a year now Kamehameha Schools and its developer Highridge Costa have been shopping around a plan to build a mixed-use project that includes two 20-story towers of low-income rentals in a 3.8-acre area near the Waipahu rail station and the bus depot facility.

The Conversation talked to Mohannad Mohanna, president of Highridge Costa Development Company, and Serge Krivatsy, director of planning and development within the KS Commercial Real Estate Division. The team appeared at a Waipahu neighborhood board meeting last week to share more about its plans.

The Keawalau project has yet to be submitted to the city for permits but conceptual plans are posted online and additional public meetings are planned for the community to find out more.

This interview aired on The Conversation on May 4, 2022. The Conversation airs weekdays at 11 a.m. on HPR-1.
