A picture may be worth a thousand words, but the novel idea of painting books on a shelf and turning those images into a book is one of those quirky stories that draw you in, wanting to hear more. The Conversation caught up with book illustrator Jane Mount who now calls Maui home. She shared the story and inspiration behind her illustrated book "Bibliophile."

Mount and Adam J. Kurtz will be at Da Shop in Kaimuki on Saturday — Independent Bookstore Day — where a day of all things books will be on tap. This interview aired on The Conversation on April 28, 2022. The Conversation airs weekdays at 11 a.m. on HPR-1.

Catherine Cruz is the host of The Conversation. Originally from Guam, she spent more than 30 years at KITV, covering beats from government to education. Contact her at ccruz@hawaiipublicradio.org.
