University of Hawaiʻi women’s basketball player Amy Atwell was drafted by the WNBA's Los Angeles Sparks earlier this week.

She’s the reigning Big West Conference Player of the Year, the university's 3-point record holder, and only the second Rainbow Wahine drafted by a WNBA team in the league's 26-year history.

The Conversation sat down with Atwell to talk about her journey from Australia to Hawaiʻi, and the secret behind her 3-point proficiency. With her time in Hawaiʻi coming to a close, Atwell says she wants to be remembered for who she was off the court — always happy, having the right attitude, working hard, and a pleasure to be around.

This interview aired on The Conversation on April 14, 2022. The Conversation airs weekdays at 11 a.m. on HPR-1.
