Comedian and talk show host Bill Maher is returning to O'ahu for his annual New Year's Eve show at the Neal S. Blaisdell Center. This year marks his 10th anniversary of performing in the islands, but it’s been two years since he last had that opportunity.

Last year’s show was canceled due to the pandemic. HPR’s Dave Lawrence caught up with Maher to find out what life’s been like since he last stepped foot in Hawaiʻi.

He is scheduled at the Maui Arts & Cultural Center on Dec. 30 and at the Blaisdell Center on Dec. 31, alongside special guests Nikki Glaser and Christopher Reid. This interview aired on The Conversation on Dec. 28, 2021. The Conversation airs weekdays at 11 a.m. on HPR-1.

Dave Lawrence is the local host of All Things Considered, Road Stories (formerly Off the Road) and Stargazer.
