A teenager was recovering after spending more than 11 hours clinging to a kayak before being rescued during an overnight ocean search. In a statement, the parents of 17-year-old Kahiau Kawai thanked rescue teams and Honolulu lifeguard Noland Keaulana for searching for the teen through the night and finding him safe.

The U.S. Coast Guard says a 60-year-old man sailing from California to Hawaiʻi arrived in the islands over the weekend. The Coast Guard says Noel Rubio arrived safely with his sailboat Malulani on Saturday, one day after it asked the public for help finding him.

The cargo airline whose plane ditched into the ocean off Hawaiʻi this month is being grounded by safety regulators. The Federal Aviation Administration said Friday that it will bar Rhoades Aviation of Honolulu from flying or doing maintenance inspections until it complies with FAA regulations.
