Happy Friday to you! If you're a regular listener to Bridging the Gap, you've noticed a few new voices on the air. We're adding two new DJs to the late night airwaves. Paige Okamura, better known as DJ Mermaid from KTUH will be taking over Tuesday nights, and tonight I'm introducing Harrison Patiño (also from KTUH). He'll eventually be taking over Thursday evenings... but for now is just taking over the second hour of the show.

Keeping the music mellow and cool for this session of Bridging the Gap. Expect bits of beautiful Jazz, Soul, and Downtempo.

Since this was the week of radio firsts and experimentation... I'm taking it one step further and doing this session of Bridging the Gap on DJ gear. So all the songs will be mixed together... it's the closest you'd get to a live set in a nightclub.

Happy Valentine's Day! We taped this show last night in front of a live audience at HPR Gen Listen's Speakeasy.

Celebrating International Clash Day with a number of other public Radio stations. International Clash Day is an all day long, all across the globe, celebrating music as a tool for social consciousness, and the 40th anniversary of the Clash’s London Calling. It’s anti-racist, and anti-fear, pro-solidarity, pro-unity, and pro-inclusion kind of day and kind of setlist for this session of Bridging the Gap.

Switching back and forth between indie rock and world music for this session of Bridging the Gap. Working in new music from The Specials, Dexter Story, Beck and more.

Paige Okamura, better known as DJ Mermaid from KTUH treats us to an all Hawaiian session of Bridging the Gap. dj mr.nick returns on Wednesday.

Sticking the the Jazz this evening... with a very loose representation as to what that may mean. Exploring both contemporary and traditional Jazz, with new releases mixed in.

For most part... I'm picking music on the fly for this session of Bridging the Gap, but trying to steer towards a more global, more upbeat feeling of exploration.

Exploring a little Indie Americana this evening. Mixing in a little Indie Rock, Country and other surprises.

Celebrating this Martin Luther King Jr. Day with timeline of songs. Starting with the civil war, moving through the horror of lynching and slavery, then moving into songs taken from, or inspired by the civil rights movement.

It's a random Friday for this session of Bridging the Gap. Picking music on the fly, and just keeping it fun for this late evening.

Exploring a mixture of Jamaican Ska, Reggae & Dancehall with a spotlight on dancehall legend Sister Nancy ahead of her show at the Blue Note tomorrow.

No theme for tonight's show... just DJing and picking out music on the fly. Either way I'm gonna try to keep it light and addictive.
