The state Board of Education is getting a refresh with several new members.

Gov. David Ige is reappointing Bruce Voss and Damien “Kaimana” Barcarse to the board for three-year terms.

But Ige also announced he is appointing three new members: Makana McClellan, Lauren Moriarty, and Ken Kuraya.

Moriarty and Kuraya will complete the terms of board members Lyla Berg and Catherine Payne.

Both Berg and Payne will step down following this year’s legislative session, which ends on May 5.

In a news release, Ige said his appointments “bring a range of experiences that will contribute to a public education system that delivers results.”

The appointments are subject to approval by the state Senate.
