It will cost a dollar more to renew your motor vehicle registration at one of the City and County of Honolulu's self-service kiosks.

The kiosks are located at certain Safeway and Foodland supermarkets on Oʻahu.

The machines currently charge $3 per transaction, but starting March 1 that will rise to $4.

City officials say the increased service charge is reasonable for the convenience of being able to renew registrations without having to stand in line at a satellite city hall, go online, or mail in payment.

The kiosks also charge a 2.5% fee on credit and debit cards that are assessed by financial institutions.
