The FDA said Wednesday that Abbott's BinaxNow test and Quidel's QuickVue can now be sold without a prescription for consumers to test themselves at home.

Maui County will distribute several thousand at-home COVID-19 test kits at no cost on Wednesday Dec. 29 from 4 p.m. until supplies last.

The test kits are the BinaxNOW self-test kits. One test kit will be provided for each vehicle driving through the distribution site.

Maui Island residents can drive to the War Memorial Gymnasium parking lot in Wailuku.

Free test kits will be distributed to Molokaʻi and Lanaʻi residents at a later date.

Those experiencing flu-like symptoms or traveled off-island recently are encouraged to pick up a BinaxNOW self-test kit.
