Sen. Brian Schatz Introduces Save Hotel Jobs Act

Earlier this week, Senator Brian Schatz introduced new legislation to support hotel workers impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Save Hotel Jobs Act would create new grant programs and tax credits for hotel employees whose jobs were affected by stay-at-home orders, which put a halt on the travel industry.

The grant would cover hotel worker payroll and benefit expenses.

Hotel owners who receive the grant will be required to give laid-off hotel workers recall rights.

The legislation also includes a Personal Protective Equipment Tax Credit.

This will provide hotel employers with a 50% payroll tax credit for costs associated with worker safety against COVID-19.
