Guitar legend Al Di Meola is the latest artist in our series, interviews with musicians joining HPR All Things Considered Host Dave Lawrence, sharing their stories remotely about the pandemic and other crises. The series has featured Jack Johnson, Carlos Santana and Cindy Blackman Santana, Soul Asylum’s Dave Pirner and Alice Cooper.
Al Di Meola has been both personally and professionally touched by the coronavirus. Known for his work with Chick Corea, John McLaughlin and others, Al offers some riveting storytelling about how his latest Beatles-based album,Across the Universe, and tours for it, were heavily impacted by the coronavirus, and he’ll even play some Beatles solo for us on the guitar as part of a two day feature that begins this afternoon, with Al joining us remotely from New Jersey, one of the early epicenters of the virus. We’ll hear, and post, part two tomorrow.
