Jack Johnson will host and perform as part of a two-hour livestream from his front porch in the Honolulu area tomorrow, for an Earth Day celebration he’s calling Kokua Festival 2020 – Live From Home. He spoke with HPR All Things Considered Host Dave Lawrence about it. The interview ended up being the first in what became a series!

Joined by Ben Harper, G. Love, Ziggy Marley, Lukas Nelson, Paula Fuga, Kawika Kahiapo, John Cruz, Anuhea, and many others, he also plans to include home cooking lessons from some of Hawaii’s top chefs, Ed Kenney and Mark Noguchi.

Viewers will be given the chance to make donations during the event. The donations will benefit Kokua Hawaii Foundation, a nonprofit that supports environmental education in the schools and communities of Hawaii. To aid local COVID-19 relief efforts, a portion of donations will be directed to programs that promote food security and sustainable local food systems in Hawaii, including Aloha Harvest, the Full Calabash Fund, and the Chef Hui Give & Go Community Meal Program. Viewers will be able to find the livestream on either Jack’s Facebook page or at twitch.tv/amazonmusic.
