Farmers and Artisan market

Waimea Town Market at Parker School is home to over 50 highly curated vendors who offer a wide variety of terrific produce, food and locally sourced and hand made items. Please join us, talk story with our vendors, learn about their businesses and crafts, and enjoy breakfast or lunch at our picnic tables with the Mauna Kea view—where North Hawaii comes together.

Families are invited to explore Mid-Pacific’s 43-acre Mānoa Valley campus, where arts studios, immersive technology labs, athletic fields, including the under-construction $7.5 million track and field complex, and International Baccalaureate classrooms reflect the school’s innovative spirit. Guests will meet faculty and staff from across programs—including the School of the Arts, athletics, IB, and immersive technology—and learn how Mid-Pacific’s unique approach to Deeper Learning inspires students to think critically, innovate, and connect with real-world challenges.
Well known for both technology and the arts, Mid-Pacific also is embracing the ethical use of AI in the classroom, and at the forefront of this emerging technology. Learn more about all Mid-Pacific has to offer your child during this day of exploration.

Big Island Architectural Walking Tour of Hawai‘i Preparatory Academy
Saturday, October18 with tours from 9AM – 12PM

Join us for AIA Honolulu’s annual Architectural Walking Tour, this year hosted at the beautiful Hawai‘i Preparatory Academy campus on the Big island.

Explore the site’s award-winning architecture, learn about its design evolution, and hear firsthand from local architects and planners about the integration of landscape, climate, and education.

A rare opportunity to experience one of Hawai‘i’s most thoughtfully designed campuses through an architect’s lens.

In 1958, the Hawaii Preparatory Academy Board of Trustees commissioned Vladimir Ossipoff, a renowned mid-century architect, to design a school campus. Today, HPA possesses the largest single collection of Ossipoff's work in one place. As the school modernizes and enacts an ambitious sustainability plan, Ossipoff's philosophy and influence remain. The campus as a whole received an AIA Hawaii Honor Award in 1970, and the Energy Lab received an AIA Hawaii Award of Excellence in 2010.

Staggered Tours: On Saturday, October 18th, staggered tours leave from the check-in point every 15 minutes from 9am-10am. Each docent will lead up to 12 participants.

ADA Disclaimer: The walking tour route is fairly lengthy and features some uneven terrain and large elevation changes. If someone in your party has limitations, please let us know.

The tour takes about 2 hours but due to a larger number of walkers, we appreciate your patience & flexibility if our estimated tour length is not exactly as scheduled.

What You Need to Bring: Water bottle and snacks to keep up your energy; Comfortable shoes; Sunscreen and hats are highly recommended and Umbrella (depending on weather).

The Bookstore also has DVDs, CDs, audio books, records, anime, comics, games, puzzles and so much more at great prices. Please note that Statehood day will be Friday August 15th and all libraries will be closed.

Lahaina Arts Society's fine art fairs showcasing award winning juried Maui resident artists creating paintings, ceramics, photography, glass art, woodwork, feather art, jewelry and more for over 50 years. Meet and talk story.

Join children’s author Kealani Netane for a fun and interactive book reading of Tala Learns to Siva! Families and young readers are invited to gather for an engaging session filled with laughter and dancing.

Kealani will bring the pages to life with a read-aloud, followed by an activity where the children will create their own story ideas and ending with a Q&A where the participants can ask questions about the story and the author’s experiences.

Classical Pacific host Sharene Taba will facilitate the conversation with Kealani Netane.

This event offers the opportunity to engage with the poetics of Hawaiʻi’s past and present.

About Kealani Netane:

Kealani Netane is a Native Hawaiian and Samoan author who was raised on the leeward side of O‘ahu where she currently resides. She writes children’s books and is the author of Tala Learns to Siva, illustrated by Dung Ho.

Live From the Atherton is Hawai‘i Public Radio’s new flagship multimedia series, featuring music performances, authors and other creative, original thinkers at our Atherton Studio. Throughout 2025, Hawai'i Public Radio will host ticketed events that feature a range of music, from Hawaiian, classical, jazz and indie, as well as authors and speakers across genres including fiction, young adult, keiki and Hawaiian history.

About the Garden:

Step away from the city and enjoy a refreshing visit to Foster Botanical Garden, the oldest of the Honolulu Botanical Gardens. This 14-acre oasis features a world-class collection of tropical plants, including some magnificent trees planted in the 1850s by Dr. William Hillebrand. These trees mark the beginning of what would become the Honolulu Botanical Gardens.

What to Expect:

Tours are led by dedicated volunteer guides who have completed a six-week training program. They bring the garden to life with in-depth stories, history, culture, and fascinating insights into its plants and animals.
