The Celebration of the Arts, one of Hawaiʻi’s longest-running arts and cultural festivals, will celebrate a milestone this weekend on Maui. It’s the 30th year for the event that celebrates the spirit of aloha through dozens of the state’s top artisans, educators, cultural practitioners and entertainers.

One of the many sessions is a discussion on the Maori haka and the Hawaiian ha’a. The Conversation spoke with Leilani Roulet-Whaitiri and Ke’eaumoku Kapu about the differences and similarities between the haka and the haʻa. They will be part of a panel discussion on Friday, April 15 at 12:45 p.m. at the Ritz-Carlton Maui.
