Artists How Nosm and Defer are among the big image-makers of our time, and now a lot of them are all together in "Pow! Wow! The First Decade," at the Bishop Museum. HPR's Noe Tanigawa says you should take the kids—you’ll see masters of street art, your favorites from Kaka‘ako.

Jasper Wong, founder of the Pow! Wow! Street Art Festival, told The Conversation about the Hawai’i ties that so many key mural artists have. OG Slick and Woes are just some of the international success stories from the islands.

Ten years after starting this endeavor, Wong just completed a handsome clothing line for the NBA and WNBA, got into non-fungible tokens (NFTs), and figured out how to get more art into the lives of local kids.

This story aired on The Aloha Friday Conversation on June 18, 2021.

Noe Tanigawa covered art, culture and ideas for two decades at Hawaiʻi Public Radio.
