Five American Airlines flight attendants and one passenger are recovering after their flight from Los Angeles made a a hard landing on Maui. Flight 271 landed at Kahului Airport at around 2 p.m. Saturday. The Federal Aviation Administration says it is investigating.

Floodwaters on Tuesday washed out a water main, which undermined and destroyed part of the roadway. The county reported that many roads were limited to one-lane traffic for most of Tuesday and that motorists should still expect delays.

Honolulu City Council wants to create a framework to pay businesses affected by ongoing rail construction on Oʻahu. A new measure is concerned with a fund established in 2015 to distribute money to negatively impacted businesses. The city allocated $750,000 in 2018, but none of it was distributed and the funding lapsed. It hasn’t received any funding since. HPR's Mark Ladao has more.

The Honolulu City Council wants to set up a permitting system so some residents can pay for exclusive access to street parking in their neighborhood. Supporters say it will reduce illegal activity and open up parking in areas with low availability. One of the councilmembers who voted no said he does not believe in the privatization of roads.
