Kamuela Philharmonic's Masterworks III concert, "Inspiration of Unity," showcases a program featuring American Music, including the Hawaiʻi premiere of Peter Boyer's "Rhapsody in Red, White and Blue" with pianist Jeffrey Biegel. Biegel joins host Sharene Taba from Hawaiʻi Island for a conversation.

Sixth grader Eliana Chang knew she wanted to play the piano when she was 5 years old. Winner of the Madeline Schatz-Harris Youth Concerto Competition in the 12-and-under division, Chang studies with Dr. Thomas Yee and will perform Movement I of Prokofiev’s Piano Concerto No. 3 in C Major at this weekend’s concert with the Kamuela Philharmonic.

Pianists Sophie Chan and Justin Chan are winners of the Kamuela Philharmonic Madeline Schatz-Harris Youth Concerto Competition in the 16 - 18 age bracket. The siblings are juniors at Punahou School and study under Dr. Wendy Yamashita. ʻIolani freshman Ben Liu is a pianist, a violinist in his school orchestra, and a winner of the Madeline Schatz-Harris Youth Concerto Competition. Studying piano under Bichuan Li, Liu has earned numerous accolades, including winning the American Protege International Music Talent Competition and performing at Carnegie Hall in New York City.

Kamuela Philharmonic presents their fun POPS! concert this weekend at the Kahilu Theatre, and Maestro Dollinger tells us about the program, and gives us a sneak peek at some of the concerts in Kamuela Philharmonicʻs exciting 2024/25 season.

The Kamuela Philharmonic Orchestra will have a special all-American concert this weekend for Armed Forces Day. The program will feature famous selections by George Gershwin, Aaron Copland, John Williams, and more. The concert will be on Sunday, May 21, at 2 p.m. in the Kahilu Theatre. Artistic director and conductor Brian Dollinger speaks with Evening Concert host Craig DeSilva about the concert.

Miyu Akino is a 12 year old pianist that was a soloist in the Kamuela Philharmonic's “The Talent That Surrounds Us” concert on January 22nd.Miyu goes to Kaimuki Middle School, and her piano teacher is Joanna Zane Fan.
