Advancing Nonprofit Excellence: Tom Kelly
The work of Hawaii's thousands of nonprofits is undeniable. They knit communities together and provide safety nets for just about every need, large or small. With so many nonprofits, can they all be successful? As with the habits of highly effective people, high performing nonprofits have their own characteristics. Teaching them is the basis of a new initiative from the Hawaii Community Foundation. Tom Kelly is the Vice President of Knowledge, Leadership, and Learning at Hawaii Community Foundation and he joined the show in-studio to talk about it.

French Film Festival: Abbie Algar
The French have a special love for cinema… they can make a claim for having invented it, after all. August and Louis Lumiere were the first to bring moving pictures from the box to the big screen, in 1895, and the French have been making films their own way ever since. American cinema has yet to shake off the influence of the French Nouvelle Vague of the Sixties. Today, nobody does thrillers, costume dramas, or cops-and-robbers better, and the Honolulu Museum of Art has some of the best on display with its Cinémathèque Française Festival. Abbie Algar is the show’s curator, and she joined the show to tell us what we can expect.

Syngenta Shareholder Meeting: Gary Hooser
It was a deft move - becoming a shareholder of Syngenta to speak at its shareholders meeting. Gary Hooser went to Switzerland to make his point to the agrochemical company on its home turf. Namely asking them to stop the lawsuit and quit using their products on his home turf. He's home now and taking heat from some on Kauai for what he said.

Hula Archive Exhibit: Maile Loo
Hula thrives on the wisdom of the elders, and the Hula Preservation Society works to keep alive the legacy of an art that was once suppressed. A legacy that is enhanced by any archival records that can be found. So the unearthing of footage of a series of concerts from the 1980’s that honored dancers, musicians, and kumu hula of the time is a priceless addition to our body of knowledge. Maile Loo, Executive Director of the Hula Preservation Society, talked with us about their program N? M?kua Mahalo `Ia: Cultural Greats of the 20th Century.
