New Music from Lehua Kalima on Kanikapila Sunday - Aug. 6, 2017

Kanikapila Sunday features three hours of Great Hawaiian Music, including contemporary, traditional and hapa haole songs. You'll also hear slack key guitar and `ukulele instrumentals. Plus, the Kanikapila Sunday Classic! Tune in every Sunday with host Derrick Malama from 1:00-4:00 PM Hawai`i Time on HPR-1.

Lehua Kalima of Na Leo and musician/producer Shawn Pimental have been teaming up in the recording studio. Their latest single is called 'No Halele`a Ku`u Aloha.' The song, written by Kainani Kahaunaele, takes us to various scenic points in the Hanalei district of Kaua`i. You'll hear it between 3 and 4 PM today. Chad Takatsugi started his career with the group `Ale`a. His first solo album, 'Ahuwale,' won four Hoku Awards last year. Chad honors the homecoming of the Hokule`a in 'Kaulana Ka Inoa O Hokule`a,' a benefit song for the Polynesian Voyaging Society. It'll be released on digital download tomorrow, but you can hear it first between 2 and 3 PM today.

Napua's new CD, 'Makawalu,' continues to make waves on her first release in seven years! Listen to a track from the Maui kumu hula between 1 and 2 PM today.
