Honolulu Mayor Rick Blangiardi's thoughts about the Honolulu Police Department

Mayor Rick Blangiardi spoke about a number of issues including two recent fatal shootings by police. One was a 16-year-old boy of Micronesian descent and the other was a man who had just arrived in the islands from South Africa. The selection of a new police chief was also at the forefront of his mind as Chief Susan Ballard announced she will step down in June

Maui doctor discusses the Johnson & Johnson vaccine

The Valley Isle was set to offer the Johnson & Johnson vaccine at a mass clinic this past weekend and also at Maui College on Wednesday. But because the Centers for Disease Control put a pause on its distribution, officials switched it out for the Moderna vaccine. We spoke with Dr. Lorrin Pang from the Department of Health office on Maui to see how the changes are affecting vaccinations.

Assets School celebrates 65th anniversary

Assets School is celebrating 65 years serving students with its programs focused on gifted children and those with dyslexia and other special needs. Like other schools, it’s been challenged with the pandemic and reduced enrollment but is working to provide more financial aid to those in need. We spoke with Ryan Masa, head of Assets School, about rebounding during the health and economic crisis.
