City Medical Examiner Identifies Dillingham Crash Victims

The Honolulu medical examiner on Monday identified the two victims in Saturday's crash of a small plane near Dillingham Airfield.

The medical examiner said Richard Rogers, 70, of Haleiwa, and William Enoka, Jr., 78, of Kapa'a, were killed in the crash.

The two died from multiple blunt force injuries, the medical examiner said.

The two-seat Cessna was owned by the Honolulu Soaring Club and was used to tow gliders, although it was not towing a glider at the time of the crash.

The two men, who friends identified as experienced pilots, may have been on a training flight when the crash occurred.

State transportation officials closed the airfield until further notice. The state leases Dillingham from the U.S. Army but plans to return it to the military, saying the arrangement was not in the interest of the state.

The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating the accident.
