Visitors to Hawaiʻi Volcanoes National Park will now be able to buy a digital ticket ahead of their visit.
It is the first fee-charging national park in the state to offer the digital pass option.
The National Park Service says the digital pass will save time at the park entrance.
Visitors can purchase and download the pass to a mobile device, but NPS recommends printing the pass because of limited internet connectivity at the park.
Seven-day passes for private vehicles, motorcycles, bicycles and pedestrians can be purchased at recreation.gov.
The Tri-Park pass – which offers access to Hawaiʻi Volcanoes National Park and Puʻuhonua o Hōnaunau National Historical Park on Hawaiʻi Island and Haleakalā National Park on Maui – must still be purchased at the park entrance.
Visitors will still be able to pay for park admission at the entrance.
