The state Department of Health declared Tuesday the water is safe to drink in three more neighborhoods on the Navy's water distribution system around Pearl Harbor.

Two zones encompassing Ford Island, Hale Moku and Hokulani were given the all-clear for drinking, cooking, and oral hygiene.

The Manana Marine Corps Housing area was switched from the Navy water system to the Honolulu Board of Water Supply on Nov. 16. The Navy reported on Nov. 20 that thousands of gallons of jet fuel spilled from the Red Hill fuel facility.

But residents of Manana Housing also complained about their water quality around the time of the fuel spill.

DOH officials said Tuesday after extensive testing, the tap water in that community is safe to consume.

"At the request of the Board of Water Supply, Manana Housing will be switched back to the Navy water system," the department said.

Military families staying in hotels or other accommodations were expected to re-occupy their homes within two days, the Navy said Tuesday.

The Ford Island Child Development Center, Pearl Harbor Kai Elementary School, Center Drive CDC, and Kids Cove 24/7 CDC are located in the cleared zones.
