Need help with Hawaiʻi unemployment benefits? You can now get in-person assistance

Workers needing help with their unemployment benefits will finally get in-person assistance starting Wednesday, Dec. 1.

The state Department of Labor and Industrial Relations has reopened its offices statewide after being closed to walk-in and in-person services since March 2020.

Services for general unemployment insurance claims and employer services will be available from 7:45 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesdays through Fridays on a first-come, first-served basis.

In-person clients will be required to show proof of full vaccination or a negative COVID test.

Telephone appointments will still be available.

The department had originally planned to reopen its offices on Sept. 7 but delayed that due to the surge in COVID cases during the summer.

Unemployment insurance and Pandemic Unemployment Assistance appeals must be mailed or filed online.

More information can be at labor.hawaii.gov.
