Haleakalā Crater Palikū Wilderness Cabin Reopens

Haleakalā National Park

The Palikū cabins located in Haleakalā Crater will reopen for reservations on Aug. 23. The first available date for a reservation is Aug. 27.

Cabin reservations are required and in-person requests will be denied. Reservations can be made up to six months in advance.

Due to the ongoing drought and water shortages, the remote Palikū wilderness cabin will only be available for Friday to Sunday nights. Backpackers staying at Palikū wilderness sites are advised to bring packed water ahead of time.

The cost is $75 per night with a maximum stay of three nights per 30-day period. Per CDC recommendations during the COVID-19 pandemic, there will temporarily be a maximum of four people allowed.

Reservations for a cabin can be made at recreation.gov.
