HOSTS ENGINEERING BASH FEB. 28
Meet the Island’s Most Talented Students, Professional Engineers, and Community Experts and Discover the Amazing World of Engineering

WAIMEA, Island of Hawaii—Engineers Week is Feb. 22-28 and Thelma Parker Memorial Public Library is celebrating with an Engineering Bash from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Sat., Feb. 28. The family-friendly NASA@My Library event is free and open to the public.

Meet some of the island’s most talented students, professional engineers, and community experts and discover the amazing world of engineering! Bring all your engineering questions and enjoy mind-bending and inspiring indoor/outdoor activities, demonstrations, and displays, including drones, hovercraft, 3-D printing, circuits, infrared imaging, magnetic slime, mini robot building, rockets, and more! There also will be face painting and balloon sculptures.

The Engineering Bash is presented in collaboration with Canada-France-Hawaii Telescope, Girl Scouts of Hawaii, Hawaii Keiki Museum, Hawaii Preparatory Academy, Hawaiian Electric, Laupahoehoe Train Museum, Parker School, Pacific International Space Center for Exploration Systems (PISCES), University of Hawaii Institute for Astronomy/Maunakea Observatories, University of Hawaii Space Science and Engineering Initiative (SSEI), W.M. Keck Observatory, Waimea Fire Station, Waimea Middle School, and West Hawaii Concrete.

“Engineers Week is a great time to celebrate how engineers make a difference in our community, and in our world,” said Ashley Spencer, Thelma Parker Memorial Public and School Library branch manager. “We are grateful to all of our community partners and friends for helping us spotlight the innovative contributions of engineers to our lives.”
NASA@My Library is an initiative to engage public audiences nationwide in informal and lifelong learning with the excitement of NASA exploration and discovery.
Thelma Parker Memorial Public and School Library is proud to be the only library in the state of Hawaii chosen to be part of NASA@ My Library, led by the National Center for Interactive Learning at the Space Science Institute in partnership with the American Library Association (ALA) Public Programs Office, the Pacific Science Center, Cornerstones of Science and the Education Development Center. This program is made possible through the support of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) Science Mission Directorate as part of its STEM Activation Program.
