Nā Kapa Kuʻina Artist Talk Story
Nā Kapa Kuʻina Artist Talk Story
Art enthusiasts and those with a love for the Hawaiian culture are invited to learn more about kapa and the artists dedicated to creating and sharing this fiber art by attending this special event featuring Donkey Mill’s current exhibit, Nā Kapa Ku`ina, and the contemporary kapa art pieces created by seven artists from around Hawai`i - Bernice Akamine, Kamalu du Preez, Puakea Forester, Denby Freeland, Roen Hufford, Kekai Kahokukaalani, and Dalani Tanahy. Connect more intimately with the artists and their works, and learn what sets Hawaiian kapa apart from other similar artforms practiced in the Pacific, through this online conversation with artists featured in Nā Kapa Ku`ina. They will share their journeys with kapa, their sources of inspiration and what the future of kapa looks like. Registration is required to participate in the event. Visit donkeymillartcenter.org or call 808.322.3362 to reserve your space. Nā Kapa Ku`ina exhibit closes on Saturday, October 9, 2021.
