Imposition of Ashes at Central Union Church on Ash Wednesday

Imposition of Ashes at Central Union Church on Ash Wednesday

On Ash Wednesday, March 2, 2022, from 5:00 to 6:00 pm, Central Union Church will offer a Drive-Thru Imposition of Ashes event at the front steps of the Sanctuary. CUC is located at 1660 S. Beretania Street. Enter from Beretania Street at any time between 5-6 pm and drive along the aisle adjacent to the Sanctuary for the Imposition of Ashes. Ash Wednesday marks the onset of Lent, the 40-day period of fasting and abstinence in the Christian tradition. It is also known as the ‘Day of Ashes’, so-called because, on that day, the church invites all to have their foreheads marked with ashes in the shape of a cross as a sign of humility and mortality; and as a sign of sorrow and remorse for the pain we’ve experienced and the wounds we've caused. The public is invited and welcome. All participants are required to wear a mask.
