Hawai'i Environmental Education Symposium

We welcome everyone to attend the 2021 Hawaii Environmental Education Alliance EE Symposium. This is a virtual event that will bring together educators throughout the state of Hawai'i. Ka mana o pilina, iā ʻoe iho, i ka poʻe kanaka a i ka wahi nohona "The Power of Connection: to self, others, and the environment" is our symposium theme. This event will be held on two days including 10/13 (5:00-6:30 PM) and 10/14 (9:00 AM- 2:00 PM). Topics for discussions and presentations will include the following. 1. Innovations in Environmental Education - How does teaching in and experiencing the outdoors improve or enhance social emotional learning in schools? 2. Kilo- In what ways did Kilo (direct observation and data) inform us about our environment this past year? What are some best practices in utilizing kilo in education to address climate change impacts, restoration projects, and student-led research. 3. How do applications of environmental education and stewardship connect and inspire youth to be engaged in social justice, citizen science, and community projects? To register for this event please visit (https://whova.com/web/heeas1_202108/). After a year of lockdown and social distancing, we are ready to reconnect with our community. This past year we have all been forced to think about the importance of our ties with others: connections with our friends and families, our colleagues, our communities as well as our ties to the natural world. The pandemic made us realize how much we crave connection. Join us this year as we explore new ways of connecting. Mahalo.
