On Ash Wednesday, March 2, 2022, at 6:30 pm, Central Union Church will offer a short, in-person Ash Wednesday service with Imposition of Ashes. Ash Wednesday marks the onset of Lent, the 40-day period of fasting and abstinence in the Christian tradition. It is also known as the ‘Day of Ashes’, so-called because, on that day, the church invites all to have their foreheads marked with ashes in the shape of a cross as a sign of humility and mortality; and as a sign of sorrow and remorse for the pain we’ve experienced and the wounds we've caused. CUC is located at 1660 S. Beretania Street. The public is invited and welcome to attend. All participants are required to wear a mask.
