Adaptations Dance Theater Presents Bring it Home
Maui’s contemporary dance company, Adaptations Dance Theater (ADT) will present its fifth annual Bring it Home dance concert on August 11 - 13 at the historic ‘Iao Theater:
Showtimes: Friday & Saturday, August 11 - 12 at 7pm and Sunday, August 13 at 2pm
Bring it Home brings back Maui-raised dance artists pursuing professional careers elsewhere to return to Maui and share their craft with the community that raised them. These concerts feature original choreographic works created by the company's cast of resident and guest artists, and celebrate the artistry of Maui’s own.
This year’s Bring it Home concert features an invigorating evening-length show that will transport audiences to a world brimming with joy, athleticism, and vibrant colors. Co-Artistic Directors Hallie Hunt and Ali McKeon Pineo have crafted a captivating dance experience that delves into the depths of emotions and celebrates the power of the human spirit.
Embark on a dance theater adventure as the stage comes alive with dynamic movement, colorful costumes, and the energy that only live performance can provide. The dancers' authentic movement communicate themes of joy, creativity, love, hardship, sacrifice, and perseverance as they travel to worlds both familiar and extraordinary. From the playful and exuberant to the tender and introspective, each section brings forth a unique narrative, leaving audiences with a renewed sense of wonder and a heart full of emotion.
Bring it Home will deliver an evening filled with inspiration, laughter and the sheer joy of dance that will leave audiences uplifted, moved, and reminded of the beauty and resilience that resides within us all.
Opening the Bring it Home dance concert are the participants of ADT’s Pivot, a summer training program for early career collegiate and professional dancers ages 18-25. This group of talented movers will share a 15-minute work created within the program’s seven days that demonstrates their heightened artistry and physicality infused into their choreographic process.
