Tropical rainforest ecologist Dr. Shawn Lum visits Classical Pacific to talk about his new book and local conservation efforts in Hawaiʻi, and listen to music by Christopher Tin — The Lost Birds: An Extinction Elegy.
Sharene Keliʻipunilei Lum Taba grew up in Pearl City listening to a variety of music – mostly in the car and the choice of the driver (Grandma, Mom, Dad, sister or brother). It ranged from Hawaiian to Japanese Enka to Top 40 to HPR. Sharene played the violin in school, and is now a professional freelance harpist and mother. She and husband jazz bassist Dean Taba love to play and listen to music, and are raising their children to celebrate the love of learning and of all kinds of music.

Hawaii Opera Theatreʻs production this weekend stars an all-Asian cast including Emily Michiko Jensen as Mimi. Jensen shares her experience growing up in opera, as Morgan shares his vision of making opera inclusive, welcoming and relevant.
Maui High School graduate Skyler Stook is a Communicolgy major at the University of Hawaii at Manoa. He taught himself to play the guitar and is in the Universityʻs Jazz Ensemble. Skyler Stook brought in his guitar and played music, shared how he got interested in jazz, and offered advice for anyone wanting to learn the guitar.
