Eddie Aikau on March 16th, 1978, the day the Hokule'a set sail for its second Tahiti crossing

As the Hokule’a and Hikianalia continue their worldwide sail, a theatre production in Honolulu is remembering a tragedy that nearly swamped H?k?le‘a’s beginnings.  HPR’sNoeTanigawa reports, it was March 16th, 1978, and amidst great fanfare, the Hokule’a set sail from Magic Island.

Public performances of “Eddie Wen Go” happen this coming Friday and Saturday, September 19 and 20, at the Hawai‘i Theatre.  Danny Carvalho plays an original live soundscape for the production.  The book, by Marion Lyman Mersereau, is available through your favorite bookseller.
