Classical Pacific, July 5, 2018: Animalia

  Today, a celebration of animals through the works of classical composers. I'll be playing music by Vaughan-Williams, Delius, Haydn, Telemann, Siamak Aghaei, Rimsky-Korsakov, Ravel, Schubert and Copland. I'll also be interviewing composer Takuma Itoh and scientist Melissa Price on their recent educational music project, the Symphony of the Birds. Melissa will also appear on the upcoming Science Friday event with Ira Flatow at Hawai‘i Theatre tomorrow evening.

Louise Keali‘iloma King Lanzilotti comes from a multi-ethnic background that has informed many of her beliefs. Her experience covers artistic, educational and administrative areas of the arts. Lanzilotti taught for over twenty years in public, private and alternative schools K – 12, developing a method of writing music and plays with students, which solidified her understanding of the importance of arts engagement for all.
